What the platform does and does not do.
What is a chart pattern?
A chart pattern is a recognizable shape formed by price movements on a stock or crypto chart. Patterns like head & shoulders, double bottoms, and cup & handles have been used by traders for decades to describe potential price scenarios. Our engine detects over 70+ different patterns automatically.
How accurate is the pattern detection?
A pattern score from 0–100 measures how closely a formation matches detection criteria. It is not a probability of profit. Historical statistics are separate: compare the same pattern, timeframe, evaluation window and resolved sample size.
Is TradingPatterns.io free?
The Free plan includes daily and 4-hour research for its included patterns and a small watchlist. Pro expands pattern coverage, timeframes and watchlist capacity. Premium adds historical analytics and email alerts. See Plans for current limits, prices and trial terms. The two public examples can be examined before signing up.
How often is the data updated?
Scans run every 5 minutes during trading hours, but our data provider publishes intraday bars after the session closes — so 5M, 15M, 30M, 1H and 4H detections are based on the previous session and are not live. Daily and weekly patterns update once their bar closes.
What markets do you cover?
We scan 2,200+ tickers including US stocks, major cryptocurrencies, and popular ETFs. Coverage spans the NYSE, NASDAQ, and leading crypto exchanges.
Can I use this for day trading?
Not for live intraday entries. Our provider delivers intraday bars 12-20 hours after the close, so a 5M, 15M, 30M, 1H or 4H detection describes the previous session rather than the current one. The scanner is built for swing traders working daily and weekly patterns; day traders can use it for post-session review and backtesting, not for trading the open.
What are win rates?
Historical win rate is winning outcomes divided by resolved outcomes under the evaluation rules. Pending detections are excluded. A high win rate can coexist with large losses; inspect average gains, average losses, sample size and methodology together. These are evaluated detections, not executed trades.
Do you provide trading advice?
No. TradingPatterns.io is a pattern detection and analysis tool. We provide data and analytics to help you make informed decisions, but we do not provide personalized trading advice. Always do your own research and consider your risk tolerance before trading.
